Night silencing units can be fitted to any mechanical turret clock movement and consist of a linear actuator which pulls the clock hammers away from the bells allowing the clock movement to operate as normal, but not allowing the hammer to strike the bell.
The linear actuator is controlled by a battery backed time switch and can be programmed to whatever time is required.
Where necessary the actuators can be operated by a manual switch allowing them to be used for “barring-off” the clock before bell-ringing.
When this is the case the control unit is fitted with a green and red lighting system to indicate to bell-ringers when it is safe proceed.
I some cases it maybe proved necessary to fit a brake system to the clock movement to prevent any damage occurring whilst the clock movement is running without the resistance of lifting the bell hammer,
