Under our care
Our annual maintenance consists of attending onsite, inspecting the clock installation and checking that it is safe, and that there are no apparent signs of wear or areas of concern that may cause problems in the following twelve months.
The process
1. Cleaning & Lubrication
We clean and lubricate the clock movement and all accessible parts within the building, including the dial motion works, bevel gearing, and universal joints. Bell hammers and bell cranks are also checked, cleaned, and lubricated as necessary.
2. Adjustments & Minor Repairs
Any adjustments needed to hammer wires or hammer check springs are carried out during the visit. Where new steel weight lines or hammer wires have been fitted by us, they will be replaced free of charge if they break while the clock is under our care.
3. Reporting & Recommendations
If we identify any areas of concern, we provide a clear report and quotations for the necessary work. This service is free of charge and without obligation.
4. Exclusions
The annual maintenance agreement does not include responsibility for seasonal time changes (summer and winter adjustments) or for ongoing regulation of the clock’s timekeeping. These are typically carried out by a local person.
5. Advice & Support
On request, we are happy to provide free instruction on the week-to-week care of the clock when we are in the area, helping local caretakers understand the basics of good clock management.
